For such a time as this..
"And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14, The Bible)
Last week I wrote about the stirring that surfaces when your health improves and the fog starts to lift. That quiet question: Is this it? Is this all I'm here for?
I want to stay with it, because as a doctor trained in lifestyle and integrative medicine, I take that question seriously. Your sense of purpose, your spirit, your feeling that you were made for something more... that's not separate from your health. It's part of it.
There's an ancient story I come back to often. You may know it, you may not, but stay with me either way.
Esther was a young woman living in exile, orphaned, raised by her cousin, swept into a royal palace she never asked to be in. Nothing about her path had gone the way she might have planned. And yet, when the crisis came, when her people needed someone with exactly the access and resilience she had built through years of navigating a world that wasn't designed for her... she was ready. She didn't feel ready, but she was positioned.
Whether you read that as scripture, as wisdom literature, or simply as a powerful story about a woman who found her purpose in the place she least expected it, the question Mordecai asks her lands the same way: what if everything that has happened to you has been leading somewhere?
Every skill you sharpened in that boardroom. Every crisis you navigated at 2am with a feverish child and a 7am presentation. Every year you spent building resilience you didn't even know you were building. None of it was wasted. All of it was preparation.
You haven't missed the moment. The moment has been waiting for you.
For such a time as this.
Health in your body, peace in your soul, purpose in your step.
Lolu :)
